Description:

The Autumn BASI Ski Instructor Course has been designed for potential ski instructors to train and qualify with Ski Academy Switzerland. Completion of your BASI course will enable you to work for the remainder of the season as a ski instructor in our partnered ski schools across Europe.

The Autumn Programme will be split into four parts:
• October to November 2008 train and qualify for the BASI Level 1 course.
• November to December ski school training
• January to February 2008 train and qualify for the BASI Level 2 course.

  • Mid February onwards work opportunities as a ski instructor with our partner ski schools (optional).

Over the 11 week course the SAS coaches will provide a constant personal development ski and teaching programme which covers all modules and every aspect of the BASI Level 1 and Level 2 syllabus. This will include teaching sessions, ski school, shadowing, mountain safety, steeps, bumps, piste and off piste performance and freestyle.

After students have qualified for the BASI Level 1 we will provide six weeks of further training to prepare students for the BASI Level 2 ski instructor qualification. There is also an opportunity for students to take up another language (French or German) which will prove essential when applying to any foreign ski schools.

The Autumn Programme will be based in Saas-Fee and Gstaad for pre-season and winter training.

Pre-Selection

Before applying to the fast track BASI autumn course students are required to ski parallel turns confidently and coping with a variety of conditions on red runs.
