Description:


Improve your scuba diving skills and learn marine survey techniques by joining GVI’s marine conservation expedition in the Mayan village of Mahahual. At this new centre you will receive comprehensive training and increase you knowledge of marine habitats and conservation. Rescue Diver, Dive Master and PADI speciality courses are also available. Daily activities include coral and fish surveys and awareness projects in the local community. Expedition members are needed for 5 – 15 weeks and internships are also available. This expedition follows on from the success of GVI’s Marine Research Expedition in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve at Pez Maya and continues to support and assist the work of local non-profits including Amigos de Sian Ka’an (ASK), the local state university of Quintana Roo (UQROO), and the National Commission for the Conservation of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), as well as international NGO’s and universities on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef Survey.
