Learn Spanish, live with a local family, experience the beauty of the old Spanish Colonial town Antigua and make a difference to children whose lives are marked by extreme poverty on this GVI project. Volunteer work is available with indigenous communities in rural areas around Antigua. The project has established schools to assist children who do not normally have the opportunity of any formal education. Two weeks of one on one Spanish classes (based on skill level) are included and are highly recommended for those Volunteers with no previous Spanish experience or those who want to brush up on their Spanish language! Those who choose to take Spanish will Volunteer on their projects in the afternoons. After these two weeks, Volunteers will then work full-time at the project. Early on in your stay, you will spend a weekend with other GVI Volunteers mountain biking to Lake Atitlan, a beautiful volcanic lake. Once there you can enjoying hiking, kayaking and stay in a majestic lakeside hotel.
