Description:
This GVI project combines volunteer work and Spanish lessons based in the cobble-street town of Copán Ruinas in Honduras. Choose to learn Spanish for 2 weeks staying with a local family and then you can select from an array of volunteer activities, including community work with the local indigenous villages, assisting local farmers and working on coffee plantations. Nestled near the border with Guatemala, and just a few hours travel from the stunning Caribbean Bay Islands of Roatán and Utila, you will have the opportunity to travel and see what Central America has to offer. Weekend activities such as visiting the famous Copán Ruins, horseback riding and swimming in hot springs are included in the programme ensuring that you experience the cultural and adventurous side of Honduras.
Highlights
Make a difference to some of the poorest communities of Honduras. Learn and improve your Spanish language skills, explore the countries of Guatemala and Honduras and enjoy Mayan the culture. When not volunteering, you can enjoy weekend activities such as; visiting the famous Copán Ruins, horseback riding and swimming in hot springs which are included in the programme. You can also head off to the Bay Islands for scuba diving or just to laze on the beach. At the start of the placement, included in the programmed, is an unforgettable two day hiking, biking and kayaking trip up to Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, before heading down to Honduras.
