Description:

Visit Rajasthan, experience Indian culture and teach underprivileged children as part of this volunteer program based in the beautiful lake city of Udaipur. After a week of orientation, living with a local family, exploring Jaipur and taking part in teaching workshops, you will begin assisting teaching at primary schools. These schools are understaffed and by volunteering you take the pressure off the teachers and make it possible for all the children to be taught effectively. Subjects to teach include: basic English and Maths, as well as creating a fun and playful environment. Also included in the project, is a unique opportunity to take part in weekly workshops such as Hindi Classes, yoga, cookery, dance and arts and craft, which will give you a great insight into the local way of life. Project work is carried out from Monday to Friday and you are free at weekends. At the end of the first month is a three day excursion which includes camel trekking and camping in the desert, visiting the golden city of Jaisalmer and the famous desert town of Jodhpur.
