Description:

Join a rural community in Central Sri Lanka, close to one of the country's largest National Parks. You will assist the work of Horizon Sri Lanka and teach children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to develop their academic skills. You will assist the local teacher with activities such as; English teaching to children between the ages of 5 - 16 years old, teaching Mathematics, setting up and training the village football team, or assisting Horizon Lanka in its fundraising efforts.
You will be living with a local family in the village to allow for complete cultural immersion. Horizon Lanka is based in the village of Mahavilachchiya which is about one hour by car north of Anuradhapura. The village is a stone's throw away from one of Sri Lanka's largest national parks. For such a small island Sri Lanka has many riches that continue to lure travellers. You`ll find waterfalls, beaches, excellent bird watching, fascinating culture, jungle and national parks on your door step.
