What is the minimum age limit for volunteering projects?
We asked several companies what their minimum age limit is for volunteers
to join their volunteering projects abroad. Here are their responses:
The Leap:
18 is the minimum age for all our team placements, 22 is the minimum age for all
our solo placements. If you list our ‘Mini Leap’ placements the minimum age for these
is 27.
Gap Sports:
Our travellers need to be 18 to join any of our programmes overseas.
However, we do grant some discretion if the traveller is 17 on departure, but will turn 18 while they are overseas.
Real Gap:
Our minimum age limit for volunteers to join our projects is 18.
PGL:
Due to the responsibilities of working with children the majority of the staff we usually
employ are at least 18 years old. If you are younger than this, we're still keen to hear from you if you can demonstrate exceptional experience and maturity for your age.
If you do still wish to apply then your application will be considered equally along with all the others, but if a contract is offered to you then due to your age it will be restricted to a live off site support role until you are 18.
If however you decide to wait until the age of 18 when you can experience the PGL life fully then we look forward to hearing from you in the future.
We have no upper age limit and value the life experience that our older team members can bring with them
Mondo Challenge:
MondoChallenge do offer placements for volunteers from a minimum age of 18, although these are mainly focused around our Asian, South American and Romanian placements. We do have a set minimum of 22 for our African placements due to the placements being a lot more demanding. Also some of our programmes in Africa are made up of business development projects, which require our volunteers to have a minimum of 4 years in-business experience.
