This three-stop trip takes you to the major backpacking gateways for travel opportunities galore...

Start your trip in sunny LA, at the heart of the West Coast - think California girls, surfing USA, Yosemite and Disneyland, and you've got a good idea of what to expect. Swing through sparkling Las Vegas, to spin a few chips in the casinos and watch the fountain displays. The bright lights make a sharp contrast to the peaceful and enormous Grand Canyon, an official wonder of the world (and it's easy to see why!). Take a few days chilling in San Fran, home to those famous tram-lined hilly streets, and travel on down to San Diego if you fancy spending a little more time on the Southern Coast.

On the second leg of your journey you'll be off to Auckland, one of the many beautiful cities in the Land of The White Cloud. The North Island also houses the beautiful Bay of Islands, a retreat that's full of colours, marine life and vast views of the South Pacific Ocean. Don't miss the Waitomo Caves - you'll ride through the darkness as thousands of glow-worms illuminate the path ahead of you. If you have time, leave NZ behind for a visit to Fiji and the Cook Islands - these sandy retreats are pure paradise and you won't regret the trip.

Finally, from New Zealand's pure magic to Hong Kong's busy traffic! Get ready for a crazy, hectic city that will sweep you off your feet. At Aberdeen Harbour you'll see people working or living on the junks, and get a chance to eat at the famous Jumbo Floating Restaurant. Head to the island's highest point at Victoria, see the Giant Buddha at Po Lin Monastery and walk across thee mountainous island of Lantau. This beautiful part of the world is the perfect gateway to the rest of Asia or a memorable final destination.
