Location : San Michele Extra, 5 km far from the centre of Verona, in the natural park know as Parco dell’Adige”.
Work : Villa Buri was built in the early XVII century in Verona, which is a very famous city in the North East of Italy well known for being a very tourist place with a long history and culture, full of historical monuments, such as the famous arena (the ancient roman theatre). Verona is also a great example of a fortified town, whose walls and the surrounding area are in way of becoming a national park. The ancient building located in Villa Buri is surrounded by four hectares of green areas, particularly rich in flora and fauna; the place is visited by about 30,000 people around the year, that is why since 2005 the association ‘Amici di Villa Bosco Buri’ has been in charge of maintaining and enhancing tha park, but unfortunately, some parts of the area are still damaged and abandoned. For this project, volunteers will work about 30 hours a week. Together with Italian volunteers and in collaboration with local people they will organise shifts to clean the house and prepare meals. in general basis, the work will be structured into three thematic sessions: - Spring: Cutting grass, seeding in the Botanic garden, planting, transplanting flowers and aromatics essences, watering. - Summer: Cutting grass as well as watering trees and flowers. - Autumn-Winter: Pruning, clearing the brushwood, weeding and collecting leaves.
Accommodation : The volunteers will be hosted inside the park, in a private house provided with a bedroom, a bathroom and a furnished kitchen.
Special requirements : This project is reserved exclusively to girls and even though English is the official language of the project it is also possible to communicate in Iatlian, Spanish or French. Curriculum vitae and a short motivation letter are required.
